Getting to Grips with Adelaide!

Nur and Kasih have taken an amazing journey.  Adelaide is so far removed from their daily reality that it has been an very big change for Nur.  Kasih of course being a toddler seems to be taking it all in stride!!! Read more

Filipino Orphans pray for Kasih!

Amazing!  Kasih’s story is being supported through the prayers of the children at Shepherd’s Arms Orphanage in Tagbilaran Philippines - Shepherds Arms is a an orphanage in rural Philippines on the island of Bohol.  The children live in simple surroundings - bunk room accommodation, very rudimentary toilets and bathroom facilities, a simple thatched outdoor kitchen building - our team ran a medical clinic for the orphans and surrounding neighbours at the orphanage when we visited in January.

It was an amazing visit with the kids - they have so much energy and joy in life -

The kids of Shepherds Arms Orphanage:  Bohol, Philippines - they were singing a song for us in this photo!

Amazing that these children would have such energy and care to offer up their prayers for little Kasih - a girl in even more simple circumstances than themselves.

The children have posted a picture of Kasih on the main door of their building so that they can remember her and pray for her as they pass through daily in their comings and goings.  That is so very cool.

I cant wait to see what else God can bring out of Kasih’s story, and where else it will travel as she brings people of like mind and heart together …

Blessings

Kasih

Welcome to Kasih’s Journey.  If you haven’t stopped by before, have a read through the previous posts, and check out www.kasihmeanslove.com  to get the basics of Kasih’s story.

Kasih is a little girl one year old, from Kira in Indonesia.  Her name translates to “Love” and she is indeed loved by her family - despite being the firstborn girl with a severe cleft palate deformity.

Your help - every dollar - means Kasih has a chance at life - a chance to start school, to smile and talk, and do any of the other things a beautiful little girl should be able to do- so read on to update on Kasih’s story, and help us with your donations if you can.

Checkout Kasih’s story and join us supporting Kasih to get to Australia  www.kasihmeanslove.com

Blessings, from Kasih!

Fundraising update for Kasih

Well, all the paperwork is officially done and signed off. Kasih’s visa has come through and entry to Australia has been approved for her stay in Adelaide – now its just a matter of booking and getting the best flights possible and getting their bags packed!

I cannot believe how quickly time has flown since we met Kasih in January ..

As I write from my parents place in Brisbane, it strikes me how amazing God has been in bringing this together. How else could such a range of circumstances come together so smoothly and better than we could ever imagine, than that there is something bigger than us guiding all of this….?? Its awesome …

Fundraising continues as planned. We are holding a fundraiser quiz night in Christchurch, New Zealand on the 23rd August – come by if you are in town!!! Auditorium, Elim Cathedral of Hope, Cashel St Christchurch, starts 7pm!!!

Cheers all!!

A Fundraising update for Kasih

Hi all,

We thought it would be good to share a quick update with everyone, on where the fundraising is currently at:

Firstly a HUGE thankyou to the South Australian Government and the Adelaide Hospital Cranio Facial Unit - you may see on the right hand side of this webpage that we have updated the funds raised figure by around $25,000.00  - this is conservatively the MASSIVE donation that the SA Govt have made through their International Aid Program - of which Kasih is one small story amidst life changing events!!!

We are still actively fundraising for the remainder to meet Kasih’s needs and with your support to setup a contingency fund for her future needs back in Indonesia…. every dollar is going to make a HUGE difference in little Kasih’s Life.

Warmly,

Nicole and Lisa

Cleft Palate Surgery confirmed for Kasih

Hi all,

a quick update on Kasih’s progress.  She and her Mum are safely home after their boat trip to get passports and medical tests.  We are so excited that the xrays and blood tests showed clear for Kasih - no problems or TB found so far that would stop her travelling to Australia in September.

Dates are currently being booked for September flights into Adelaide.  The amazing medical clinic team on the ground in Indonesia have been traveling all over sorting the tests, passports, and now Visas.  Without the guys on the ground, this would not be possible to make happen.

Kasih needs everyone’s prayers and support to stay healthy and fit leading up to the trip, and then especially while flying - you know how easy it can be to pick up a cold or bug while travelling - please pray that she stays safe and full of beans all the way to Adelaide!!!

Fundraising is going well - we are holding a quiz night in Christchurch New Zealand for Kasih on 23rd August 208 - Tickets are on sale soon - all welcome to help with fundraising if you are in the area!!!

Back with more soon.

Kasih - world traveller!

Kasih and Mum are back from Manado, with a clean bill of health and two shiny new passports!!

Funds continue to arrive slowly - please keep spreading the word for Kasih…

We are hoping that Kasih will travel to Australia mid September - we are waiting on hearing back about an escort and the logistics, so along with the major job of planning that the hospital will have for Kasih, goes the planning and logistics for the trip.

Great news about the passports though!!

Back to you all soon

Communicating in the third world

Its been several days since Kasih and her Mum left for Manado for tests. We are still waiting to hear back on those…

In our world we take it for granted that communication is swift and easy – I type this blog post and its instantly available online published and away we go…. But for Kasih and family, and for the medical clinic on HalmaHera, things are very different. Travel and communication require so much more planning and preparation.

Whilst we were at the clinic they showed us the “mobile phone tower” – to get phone coverage you drive 20 minutes from the clinic and literally climb up into a tree – some decent soul built a ladder and platform a while back – you can just get reception up the tree, but groundside, nothing….

Email requires a trip into town – about an hour drive to an ‘internet café’….

We are learning and seeing that things take time – that no news is good news, and so we are waiting on Kasih’s results back and to hear that things are OK – please pray that Kasih’s tests are all good – strong heart and body are essential for her to travel to Adelaide to receive the surgery….

I will check back in with more information as soon as I hear….

Until then…
Lisa
